Monica is a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) student at the University of British Columbia. She completed her Bachelor of Science at UBC where she also pursued a Masters of Kinesiology. Through her academic endeavours she developed a strong foundation in exercise prescription and health education including her research exploring its role in supporting individuals living with depression, shaping her interest in holistic and patient-centred care.

Through her academic and clinical experiences, Monica has built a strong interest in rehabilitation and evidence-informed practice, recognizing that each individual’s experience, goals and context are unique. Monica strives to create a supportive environment where individuals feel heard, supported and empowered throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Monica has gained valuable experience working with a range of populations through her volunteer roles in healthcare and community settings where she focused on building trust, adapting communication strategies and delivering meaningful, individualized care that supports both physical function and overall well-being. In addition, her background as a Lifeguard and aquatic instructor has shaped her approach to care. Through teaching lifesaving and National Lifeguard (NLS) courses, she has worked closely with individuals of all ages and developed a deeper understanding of how movement, injury, and rehabilitation can impact confidence and daily function.

Outside of the clinic, Monica enjoys swimming, hot yoga, cooking and long walks especially in Vancouver, where even a simple walk comes with a beautiful view. She also loves hiking and feels she truly comes out of hibernation in the summer months.
